We decided to try Pusadee's for our anniversary dinner and we enjoyed our experience! The food did not lack flavor and everything was cooked perfectly. The service was fine, it didn't feel very welcoming, but it was definitely not bad either. We were able to sit in the garden on a beautiful night, and overall the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. Generally, the food and ambiance is good- it is crazy to think you are still in Pittsburgh! I would say try it if you never have before, but will definitely be keeping this for our special occasions only!
This is a much needed update to a former review. This was necessary since the restaurant has undergone a massive remodeling since I was last there. It was quite a makeover indeed. Not only has the look and feel of the place changed, but the staff and service has dramatically changed and been vastly improved. It has a much more upscale feel to it which I quite enjoyed. My visit last night started with waiting outside the restaurant in a slightly large line to get in before they opened. I didn't realize that they open at 5 p.m., but I had come just before that time from work. The clientele seems older and very well to do. People were really dressed to the nine. I actually felt kind of out of place in a t-shirt and shorts, ha. Since I came alone I had to just get a seat at the bar, which was fine with me. The bar staff made sure that I was served in a quick and efficient manner and their approach was professional. The food here has also received an upgrade. Oh my gosh, what a meal. I had the pumpkin curry with eggplant(lovely, soft, delicate, the way eggplant should always be cooked), roasted kabocha(sweet, yummy), cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, tofu and mushrooms(not sure what kind they are, but soooo good). This dish was a tantalizing symphony of flavors that danced and swayed on my palate like a classically trained ballerina. The pumpkin flavor of the curry blended so well with the kabocha which pretty much tastes a lot like pumpkin. The vegetables were all cooked wonderfully and the side of sticky rice was a welcome addition to the meal. Dessert was the coconut milk ice cream with jack fruit, peanuts and sticky rice. The ice cream was sooooo great. I don't know how they made this, but it is way better than store bought coconut ice cream. The jack fruit is just diced into tiny bits and put in the ice cream. I had a turmeric and ginger herbal tea that was really good. If this was my last meal of my life I could have died with a large smile on my face. My only critique is that they don't have enough vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu. I am sure that they would make veggie, or vegan versions of the dishes if you asked, but it is a bit too bad that they don't feature more plant based dishes. They did so well with the pumpkin curry that I am sure that they could handle it. They are certainly my new favorite local Thai food restaurant, but I really like to eat vegetarian, so I might get sick of the only two dishes that are vegetarian.
My dinner was a special occasion to spend time with my Father, who lives out of state. The service was attentive but borderline obtrusive (specifically with water refills--we appreciate a full glass but do not need a refill after consuming a mere 1/4 glass). Our waitress (Melissa) was pleasant. The meal (grilled shrimp entrée and pork belly entrée) was superb. To be honest, it is amongst the best meals I've had over 20 years in Pittsburgh. As a critique, it should be noted that the rice provided for entrees was "skimpy" (for our appetites) at best. The waitress, late in the meal, offered to bring more. We agreed and were grateful at the time. With that said, it was surprising/disappointing to have $8 ($4 per extra serving) added to the meal - without knowledge of the upcharge for RICE - when a meager portion was provided at the beginning. It is the single hesitation I have on whether to return for an otherwise exceptional dinner. I feel taken advantage of in order to pad the restaurant's bottom line (and the server's tip, which is calculated on the total bill). Truthfully, I will caution my friends and colleagues about this business practice while simultaneously praising the excellent food.
I've been to Pusadee's several times and it never disappoints! The restaurant itself is beautiful with a gorgeous courtyard garden. Some of my go-tos: squid, 17 ingredient salad, roti, fried shrimp, khao soi, mango rice, jackfruit sorbet, and chai mocktail. The jungle curry is also delicious but quite spicy. I have pretty good spice tolerance, but I still struggle with it. Order with caution! FYI: you kinda have to reserve online a month in advance! I don't know any other way to get a table.
I loved everything about it here! All the food was outstanding, the spicy marg was so good, and our service was great. The space is so creative. I want to go back!!
Date night at Pusadee's is always a great experience! While we weren't able to get a table outside (if you have a chance to, the garden ambiance is amazing), we got a nice cozy table right next to a floor to ceiling window next to the garden, so it still felt like we were outside. We started off with a couple of cocktails (le magnifique & good vibrations) that were both delicious! They were both complex without feeling overworked, and neither were too boozy or sweet. Pusadee's also boasts an impressive wine list. For appetizers, we got the grilled giant squid in lemongrass chili sauce (perfectly cooked & super flavorful!) & the spicy papaya salad (our waitress was very helpful & guiding us to the pick the perfect spice level where it was definitely spicy but kept you coming back for more bites). The appetizers are all definitely sharing size, which we love! For entrees, I got the beef cheek khao soi - the beef was so incredibly tender & the curry was balanced & flavorful. My boyfriend got the beef tenderloin which came with a ton of warm spices & vegetables. Both were delicious! I already can't wait to go back! Food: A+ Drinks: A+ Service: A Ambiance: A
This Garden is banging! Straight up succulent, bold, delicious flavors to indulge in. 3 of us went tonight and wow what a meal. Now we got in by calling and explaining we are from out of town. We did not hold back! 3 appetizers, salad and 5 entrees to share. Appetizers - the roti with yellow curry, the pork belly and the tuna laab. All 3 were excellent! We also shared the 17 ingredients salad. So bright, acidic, all around wonderful on your taste buds. Our mains - Lamb curry, pumpkin curry, grilled shrimp, beef tenderloin and the pork belly. All 5 didn't disappoint. The lamb is worth every bit of the $44 price. So insanely tender. This was a 10 star meal tonight!
Pusadee's is really one of those restaurants that you go to for special occasions where you want to sample delicious dishes, creative drinks and white glove service! We went for our Anniversary and it did not disappoint!! Our server (James?) was always on his game. Always there to ask if we were enjoy or needed anything at all. A wonderful and relaxing Dining experience and a great treat to be there on a cool Spring evening! Highly Recommend Pusadee's Garden... just a heads up... the reservations fill up quickly! Try to check their site the very beginning of each month for availability!! The reservation list does not go beyond each month - but keep trying.
This place never fails. It's an A+ from start to finish !! We went here last night and had another fabulous evening. We started with the Tom Yum soup. It was incredible and the shrimp dumplings taste so fresh !! We also got the spicy eggplant-another delicious dish. My hubby got the lamb shank and after devouring it, said it was incredible! I got the halibut - perfection, as always. Our server was Jessie and he was the "icing on the cake." What a great server and personality. I felt like we were old friends. The ambiance is absolutely stunning. You feel like you're in an oasis. Even on a rainy day. Pusadees is one of THE BEST restaurants, not only in Pittsburgh, but overall. I was born in NYC and grew up in Miami, and am a foodie, and it's truly one of the restaurant experiences you can consistently expect!!
An absolute hidden gem! I found out about this place in the PGH foodies magazine and was intrigued over the month long reservation wait. I finally managed to get in and loved every bit of the experience. Beverage wise - I ordered the drink "Person, Same Old Mistakes" which was astral blanco tequila, yellow chartreuse, almond orgeat, agave, lime, thai chili pepper. It didn't taste spicy but the Smokey aroma from the wooden plank it was served on was a great touch . My friend ordered the "Le Magnifique" which was grey goose vodka, aperol, strawberry "cream," clarified pineapple, bubbly. Sweet and delicious but a small amount for $17. We then finished the meal with a wonderful bottle of Bordeaux. Food wise - we ordered the raw chopped tuna appetizer , 17 ingredient salad which was tossed table side! We then finished with the beef tenderloin and crispy shrimp - ALL to die for! The beef was very tender and the shrimp was coated in a perfect sweet but not overly sweet tempura . Thr atmosphere reminded me of a modern zen type of feel. Very simple in regards to decor and table setup but the none the less beautiful to see the garden area outside since all walls were glass, (can't wait to sit out there when the weather gets nice)! The actual place sits beside blocks of torn down / unfinished townhomes and stores but don't let that deter you from trying this restaurant ! This was a great experience
